Many pilgrims travel to the Basílica from all over Cuba, may of whom leave tokens or pledges to the Virgen in appeal or out of gratitude. Many of these ex-votos are housed in glass cases in the Los Milagros chapel, and there is quite a pile of baseballs – not too surprising given the sport's popularity in Cuba.
