Las Terrazes Farmhouse

Sadly, the next day we had to leave the now familiar sites of Havana and set off toward the west of the island into the Pinar del Rio province. Our first stop of the day was at Las Terrazes, one of many agricultural communities founded by the government in 1968. With approximately 900 residents, Las Terrazes maintains the terraced pine forests, which give the community its name, and also benefits financially from the rise in ecotourism. At the restored farmhouse on the property we were lectured on some of the plants in the large gardens and serenaded by a singer accompanied by this gentleman here.
